Tannaka-Krein Duality

Pontryagin duality has been very successful in the study of locally compact abelian groups. Tannaka-Krein duality extends this to the case of compact nonabelian groups. We prove the Tannaka-Krein Theorem, providing all necessary material on representation theory and category theory as well as complete proofs of almost all results. We define and investigate the little-known Fourier cotransform and present in detail two simple examples.
