Draft Program: Tuesday December 3

Evolutionary Biology

45-9:00 Registration
00-10:00 Dr Stéphane Guindon Improved models of molecular evolution in statistical phylogenetics
00-11:00 Dr Sylvain Foret Evolution of DNA Methylation
00-11:30 Break
30-12:30 A/Prof Gavin Huttley Extracting information from DNA sequences using models of sequence evolution
30-13:30 Lunch Break
30-15:30 Computing Session During the Evolutionary Biology workshop, you will learn how to prepare raw sequence data for phylogenetic analysis, including the processing of Next Generation Sequencing data, alignment, partitioning, model selection, etc. You will then learn how to use new software and models presented during the morning session (including Fitmodel and the PhyML package) to analyse the processed data in a phylogenetic context.
30-16:00 Break
00-17:00 Computing Session Continued
00-19:00 Professor Stephen Donnellan Public Lecture: T.B.A.
